## What Is Missing in Classic Impact Mapping?
The classic model failed to account for the actor's desired outcome, focusing only on business impact without addressing customer needs.
Leaving out the actor’s desired outcome assumes they want what you’re delivering. But if it doesn’t solve _their_ problem, they won’t use it, and without their engagement, you won’t achieve the business impact either. It’s the missing link between intention and actual value.
>[!metaphor]
>Classic Impact Mapping is like planning a surprise party without knowing what the guest of honor enjoys. You might book a venue and hire a band, but if they hate loud music and crowds, they’ll skip it, no matter how well it aligns with your vision.</br>
>Ignoring the customer’s desired outcome breaks the chain from idea to impact—without solving _their_ problem, your strategy won’t deliver _your_ results.
